The lodge

Nine solar-powered Luxe and Meru safari tents beside a waterhole in the Olifants View Nature Reserve in northern Balule, with hands-on conservation work alongside the game drives.

Khanya Tented Camp is a rustic, conservation-focused safari camp in the Olifants View Nature Reserve, in northern Balule within the Big Five country of the Greater Kruger. Its nine canvas tents, five Luxe Safari Tents and four Meru Safari Tents, have en-suite bathrooms and solar-powered electricity. The camp is set beside an active waterhole, and the main area has two lounges, a dining area with an open kitchen, a plunge pool overlooking the waterhole and Wi-Fi.

Each day has a morning game drive with a coffee stop in the bush and an afternoon drive with a sundowner stop, and evenings end around the boma fire. Guests can also join the camp's team in hands-on conservation work, such as wildlife monitoring. A guided bush walk, a stargazing sleep-out and a boat cruise on the Olifants River can be added at extra cost. The camp runs on solar power alone, so hairdryers cannot be used.

  • Plunge pool overlooking an active waterhole
  • Hands-on conservation work with the camp's team
